one of my favorite birthday pictures

These days it's hard to believe we were comfortable taking five very young children, and an even younger puppy, for an overnight at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.

But here we are in 1992 - a great way to celebrate my 36th birthday.  I always like the photo below - the iconic organ pipe cactus and - much more importantly - several of my very finest friends.  It was a great day.  Who wouldn't want to travel with folks like these?
